Tsuda Umeko was a Japanese #educator and the founder of Tsuda College. She was the one of the first women who studied in the United States in Meiji period Japan. Tsuda Umeko had gone back to Japan and work at once. But she went to America for studying again when she was18 years old, and she decided to establish #educational institutions for women. Under the American friends helping, Tsuda Umeko founded the Women's Institute for English Studies and cultivated many English #teachers. She contributed her lifetime to promote women's#education, considered a pioneer in women's education in Japan.
