was a French #surgeon who was awarded the #Nobel Prize in #Physiology or#Medicine in 1912. He was the pioneer of vascular suturing techniques and organ transplant. Carrel developed techniques for suturing blood vessels, which was inspired by sewing lessons he took from a renowned tailor, and technology still in use today. He invented the first perfusion pump with Charles Lindbergh opening the way to organ transplantation.
